The AcuDart TBRF (Tick-Borne Relapsing Fever) test is more accurate than any other DTC test or tests from commercial laboratories such as LabCorp or Quest. The AcuDart Tick-Borne Relapsing Fever (TBRF) Screening Test is the most comprehensive and accurate test available for TBRF because it identifies antibodies to the following four Borrelia species: B. miyamotoi, B. hermsii, B. parkeri, and B. turicatae. Most TBRF tests look for only one species and therefore miss many positive cases.

It looks like Lyme, behaves like Lyme, but it’s not Lyme. What is it? Tick-Borne Relapsing Fever, a disease that presents very similarly to Lyme but is caused by a different set of species of Borrelia than those that cause Lyme disease. TBRF can be transmitted through the bite of infected soft and hard ticks.

All we need are a few drops.

That's right! A few drops of blood is all we need to test for four species of TBRF causing Borrelia. Our sample collection card is an alternative collection method, similar to an SST tube. Red blood cells are separated without a centrifuge, enabling the laboratory to perform tests on dry blood.

B. parkeri

B. parkeri is a relapsing fever agent that causes human infection. B. parkeri strain HR1 was isolated from Ornithodoros parkeri ticks.

B. turicatae

B. turicatae is a spirochete that causes TBRF in the tropics and subtropics of the United States. It is the primary cause of TBRF in the southwestern United States and is transmitted by the vector, Ornithodoros turicata.
